Ross County vs Hibernian Prediction & Match Preview

0

HIBS produced one of their best performances of the season last week and Ross County their worst in the first matches after the split in the bottom six.

And there’s no doubt County’s need is far more urgent than Hibs when the sides meet in the Highlands this Saturday.

The Staggies followed up a history-making win against Rangers with an awful display at West Lothian against bottom side Livingston to lose 2-0.

And while Livingston have surely given themselves too much to catch them, County are still one point behind St Johnstone in that relegation play-off spot.

With the pressure off, Hibs went out and bossed St Johnstone in Perth and could and should have scored considerably more than the three goals they ended up with.

It’s a very Hibs thing to do to turn up when the stakes mean little, but the win would have meant a lot to under-pressure boss Nick Montgomery who survived a vote of confidence.

He’s set them an aim of winning all five games in the bottom half, but they will know that Rangers came a cropper in Dingwall in the last game played there and to be wary of County.

Hibs are odds-on in most places, but there is a spot of 21/20 with Betfred.

Ross County can be backed at 14/5 with bet365 and the draw is 27/10 with Coral.

So far this season, there have been a pair of 2-2 draws and a 2-0 win for Hibs in the capital.

Hibs are unbeaten on their last three visits to the Highlands.

Simon Murray scored 14 goals for Hibs during his one season at Easter Road earlier in his career, but this season he has banged in an excellent tally of 18 goals for County. He is 3/1 to score anytime with bet365.

Emiliano Marcondes has been a really good loan signing for Hibs from Bournemouth and the Danish playmaker got the ball rolling in Perth last week with the opening goal. He is 12/5 to score anytime with Betfred.

If Hibs approach anywhere near the form they showed last week, they will be too good for County and will get the win here.

Don Cowie’s side are too inconsistent as they showed by beating Rangers and then losing at Livingston.

But Hibs look like they are finishing the season well and can grab their second post-split win here.

Hibs are usually a good side to trust for corners and they rack up plenty using the width of the pitch – they won seven at St Johnstone last week, six at Motherwell and 13 against Saints again before the split.

And there were a staggering 20 when County played Rangers recently. Go for over 11 corners at 6/4 with bet365.
