Rangers vs Kilmarnock Prediction & Match Preview

0

RANGERS face another tricky test this week when Kilmarnock visit Ibrox on Sunday.

Philippe Clement’s men are three points behind champions Celtic who they face in an Old Firm blockbuster next week at Parkhead, but even a win there might not be enough because their goal difference is inferior.

Realistically, they have to win all five games post-split and they at least got the first part done last week in an unconvincing win in Paisley when a late goal downed St Mirren.

They will know the state of play too with Celtic entertaining Hearts the previous day, Whether that is an advantage or not to Rangers remains to be seen.

Kilmarnock have enjoyed a really excellent season under Derek McInnes, who once turned down the chance to manage Rangers – the club he played for.

The Ayrshire side will come to Ibrox without any pressure with fourth all but guaranteed meaning European football for them next season.

Killie have been very consistent in the league and they only lost twice in the Premiership since the start of December…home and away to Rangers.

And last week’s goalless draw with Hearts was the first time they had failed to score in a game for 20 matches.

Rangers are clear and obvious favourites here at 1/4 with pretty much everyone including bet365, McBookie.com, William Hill and plenty more.

Kilmarnock can be backed at 10/1 with McBookie.com and the draw is 11/2 with Paddy Power.

Kilmarnock set the tone for their season by beating Rangers on the very first day in a 1-0 win at Rugby Park. But Rangers have won both meetings since then.

Killie’s last win at Ibrox was six years ago.

Cyrile Dessers has really come up trumps for Rangers recently after being much derided in some quarters. The Nigerian international scored a double against Hearts in the Scottish Cup semi final and got the winner at St Mirren last week. He is evens to score anytime with BetVictor.

Marley Watkins has enjoyed a great season since being discarded by Aberdeen. He’s netted four goals in his last seven and 13 in total. The 33-year-old Welshman is 6/1 to score anytime with UniBet.

Rangers and Celtic both showed their nerves last week by narrowly winning and both conceded. And with Rangers’ defence vulnerable and Killie having netted for 20 games in a row until last week and in three games out of three against Rangers this season, the obvious conclusion is a home win and both teams to score at 15/8 with bet365.

The hosts must go for it here and that usually leads to plenty of corners especially when they are at home and Killie contribute to that too.

They managed five on their last visit to Ibrox, eight when they played them at Rugby Park and eight last week against high-flying Hearts.

Go for bet365’s over 11 corners at 11/10.
