Manchester City vs Chelsea Prediction & Match Preview

MANCHESTER CITY’S quest for back-to-back trebles ended this week and they must try and pick themselves up for a huge FA Cup semi-final against improving Chelsea at Wembley.

Pep Guardiola’s side lost their grip on the Champions League after losing on penalties to Real Madrid despite almost completely dominating most of the game.

It will be a huge blow and was very avoidable for wasteful City.

For Chelsea, there’s finally some light at the end of a depressingly long tunnel for them after a dismal season which sees them in a woeful ninth place for a club of their size.

They thrashed Everton 6-0 on Monday night in what was a highly impressive display and they have certainly at last showed some signs of the consistency that was missing.

Chelsea are actually unbeaten since the start of February in the league and their only blemish in that run was their Carabao Cup Final loss to Liverpool in extra time.

The Blues will be desperate to make up for that Wembley nightmare when they were heavily criticised for losing to Liverpool’s youngsters amid shouts that they choked.

This would be a good time to make up for it and put some real gloss on a season to forget with a statement performance.

They have no doubts Manchester City will roll over Chelsea and make them 1/2 to win in 90 minutes with bet365.

Chelsea can be backed at 11/2 with Paddy Power and the draw is 11/4 with William Hill.

Manchester City are 1/4 to qualify for the Final with 888sport and Chelsea are 10/3 with Paddy Power.

Chelsea have held their own against City this season and have twice claimed draws – 1-1 in Manchester and a hugely entertaining 4-4 draw in London.

However, City have also won the last six games before this season without conceding a goal.

With Erling Haaland odds-on to score at Wembley, big game player Phil Foden could be a decent alternative at 9/4 with bet365.

Cole Palmer is the man of the moment for Chelsea with a superb four-goal haul against Everton this week taking his tally for the season to an impressive 25 goals for the season. The former Manchester City striker is 10/3 to score anytime with Paddy Power.

Chelsea will fancy their chances here after a really encouraging run of form and will be looking to take advantage of City’s disappointment, which must be huge.

But thanks to their Wembley disaster against Liverpoool, there has to be a question about their mentality.

However, they certainly should have goals in them – that Wembley loss was the last time they have failed to score and they have netted at least twice and often considerably more in their last nine games, although it’s a concern that they have been at home for five of their last six games.

Chelsea should be able to at least score here against a City side who give you opportunities. And it’s worth taking a chance on them to score two or more at a decent price of 5/2 with UniBet.

Finally, the wide open spaces of Wembley is rarely a ground that yields a lot of corners – in Chelsea’s Carabao Cup Final loss to Liverpool, there were only five in total in 120 minutes. Back under 10 at 5/6 with bet365.
