What you need to know about Tszyu vs. Ortiz

0

We have a fight. This one wasn’t official until Vergil Ortiz got by Thomas Dulorme but that didn’t take long at all.

The Texan knockout artist locked himself into a bout with Tim Tszyu when he stopped Dulorme with a brutal body shot in the first round of their April 27 clash.

That result sets up what shapes as one of the most fan-friendly bouts of the year, with neither Tszyu or Ortiz known for taking a backward step.

Appearing on a blockbuster show headlined by Terence Crawford’s super welterweight debut against Israil Madrimov, Tszyu vs. Ortiz promises fireworks on a stacked fight card.

Adding to the stakes, the interim WBA title will be on the line, as will a possible meeting with the winner of the main event.

Here’s what you need to know:

The pair are set to meet on Saturday, August 3 (Aug. 4 in Australia).

For Tszyu, it will just over four months removed from his split-decision loss to Sebastian Fundora in which he dropped his WBO 154-pound title.

As mentioned, Ortiz is coming off a first-round knockout victory and will be turning around in just over three months.

The fight is expected to be broadcast globally across the DAZN platform.

In Australia, Tszyu’s pay-per-view fights have exclusively been aired on Foxtel’s Main Event and Kayo PPV. It has not yet been confirmed whether this card will be available on those platforms.
