Liverpool vs Tottenham Hotspur Prediction & Match Preview

0

LIVERPOOL will be looking to keep their faint Premier League title hopes alive when they take on Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.

A damaging run of just one win from their last four league games has seen the Reds’ hopes of giving Jurgen Klopp a fairytale send off go up in smoke.

After being held to a 2-2 draw at West Ham last weekend, in a game that brought up my London Stadium Bet Builder, Liverpool are now five points off the pace with just three games to go.

Whilst lifting the Premier League title still remains mathematically possible, the Reds now need a Merseyside miracle of epic proportions if they are to reel in both Arsenal and Man City at this late stage of the season.

As for Tottenham, their hopes of finishing in the top four are dwindling after a pair of body blows at the hands of both Arsenal and Chelsea.

That setback has left Ange Postecoglou’s side seven points adrift of Aston Villa in the quest for Champions League qualification.

After losing their first Premier League home game of the season a fortnight ago, Liverpool are odds-on 4/9 favourites on Bet 365 favourites to return to winning ways at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.

Tottenham are big outsiders at 5/1 on Bet 365 while the draw is trading at 9/2 with the same firm.

Liverpool lost to Tottenham in controversial circumstances in September’s reverse fixture so the hosts could have a score to settle on Sunday

That was Spurs’ first success against Liverpool in 13 attempts, with their last victory before that coming way back in October 2017.

Mohamed Salah’s touchline spat with Jurgen Klopp dominated the headlines last weekend. The Reds talisman will be looking to put that controversy to bed and be backed at 5/6 (PaddyPower) to strike against Spurs on Sunday.

Tottenham’s Micky van de Ven has committed a foul in four of his last six Premier League outings and he looks overpriced at even-money on PaddyPower to commit a solitary offence at Anfield.

Virgil van Dijk is an injury doubt for Liverpool, while Diogo Jota, Joel Matip and Thiago Alcantara are ruled out.

Ben Davies, Destiny Udogie, Fraser Forster Manor Solomon, Ryan Sessegnon and Timo Werner all find themselves on the Tottenham treatment table.

Liverpool: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, van Dijk, Konate, Robertson; Szoboszlai, Endo, Mac Allister; Salah, Nunez, Diaz

Tottenham: Vicario; Porro, Romero, Van de Ven, Emerson; Bentancur, Bissouma; Kulusevski, Maddison, Johnson; Son

Liverpool’s Alexis Mac Allister is averaging 1.7 fouls per-game in the Premier League this season and he merits consideration to clock up two fouls on Sunday at 20/23 on BetVictor.

The Argentine ace received his eighth yellow card of the seasons at West Ham last weekend, on an afternoon where he committed no fewer than fourfouls.

Prior to Liverpool’s visit to East London last Saturday, Mac Allister had committed exactly two fouls in three of his previous four Premier League outings.
