Starting order, pole for 2024 NASCAR race at Circuit of The Americas

William Byron was a breakout star during the 2023 NASCAR season, and he has shown no signs of slowing down in 2024.

The driver of the No. 24 car for Hendrick Motorsports captured his first pole of the season Saturday at Circuit of The Americas (COTA). He also won the pol there last season, but Byron is looking for a better finish this time around. He finished fifth at COTA last year.

Sunday’s race marks the fourth edition of the Echopark Texas Grand Prix. Tyler Reddick, who is third in the starting position for 2024, is the defending champion at the course from last year.

Here is how the field for Sunday’s race at COTA shapes up.

William Byron continued his excellent start to the 2024 NASCAR season, narrowly edging Ty Gibbs to earn the pole position for Sunday’s race at Circuit of The Americas.

“This has been my first normal week since the [Daytona] 500,” Byron said. “Being able to be back home, be in my rhythm, my cacoon and be able to focus on driving the race car. I feel really happy with how the week’s gone and feel very fresh going into this race. I’m excited for that.”

Byron just barely beat out Gibbs by 0.015 seconds to score the top starting spot on Sunday. The 26-year-old also won the pole position in last year’s race at COTA and won stage one before ending the race in fifth.

The pole at COTA is the first for Byron this season and the 13th of his career.
