Who won the 2024 Toyota Owners 400?

NASCAR fans that stayed up for the Toyota Owners 400 got a bit more than they expected.

The race was delayed slightly due to rain at the start. And at the end, the race went extra laps when a caution flag with two laps remaining sent the race to a shootout.

Despite leading for most of the race, neither Martin Truex Jr. nor Kyle Larson wound up capturing the checkered flag. Instead, another driver secured his second victory of the season.

Who won Sunday’s race? Here’s what you need to know.

Denny Hamlin wound up capturing his second victory of the season, edging Joey Logano on the 407th lap of the race. He won by 0.269 seconds.

Hamlin had been third late in the race when Larson spun out after hitting Bubba Wallace to bring out the yellow flag with two laps to go. The result was the race going to a shootout for the first time in the 2024 season.

Hamlin’s win did not come without some controversy. Truex, who led the race before the caution flag, voiced his frustrations after the race, directing his ire at Hamlin, his teammate. Truex led for 228 laps, the most of any driver, while Larson led for 144.

“We were in a great spot, had a great Auto Owners’ Camry all night long and the guys did a really good job. Just got beat out of the pits then [Hamlin] jumped the start then just used me on turn one,” Truex said after the race. “Definitely sucks, but good solid day and another car capable of winning.”

Prior to the race on Sunday, here’s a look at the points standings in 2024.
