Everything is bigger in Texas, including stock car racing.

Texas Motor Speedway is host to this week’s Cup Series race. It always seems to captivate, especially once debris enters the stratosphere.

Just two years ago, The Great American Speedway was home to one of the more hectic races in the Next Gen era, spawning 16 caution flags, as well as a red flag.

That day, the race ended with Tyler Reddick frolicking in the victory circle. Will such a result greet us in 2024? Only time will tell.

With that, here’s what you need to know about the results of Saturday’s qualifying session, as well as the starting lineup for Sunday’s race.

Kyle Larson continued Hendrick Motorsports’ dominance on the track on Saturday, outpacing Joe Gibbs Racing star Ty Gibbs to nab pole position for Sunday’s race at Texas Motor Speedway.

Saturday’s result represented the third pole in as many races for Larson. It also proved a marquee moment for his employers, who secured their 250th Cup Series pole victory.

“Great car for one, and cool to get three poles in a row and like I said on the radio, that’s about the most intense thing you can do or experience, it’s so on edge,” Larson said. “You know how much throttle time you have to have to run fast. It’s just so sketchy.”

He’ll be joined in the front row by Gibbs. All told, the top 10 was dominated by Chevrolet and Toyota, which made up seven of the 10 fastest cars in qualifying.

Saturday’s effort was the third of Larson’s season, and 25th of his career.
