Stephanie McMahon kicked off Sunday’s WrestleMania festivities by labeling the new era of WWE as the “Paul Levesque Era” after her husband, Chief Content Officer, Paul “Triple H” Levesque.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reported, “Those we spoke to confirmed this is a direct reference to the fact that not only is Vince McMahon gone from the company due to allegations of sex trafficking, harassment, and sexual assault, but that there is no pathway to Vince McMahon returning.”

He continued, “As Vince McMahon is gone, many of his standards and rules are out the window.”

Ibou of WrestlingPurists tweeted, “Spoke to someone from WWE who told me that the promotion is deliberately moving away from the terminology of Sports Entertainment.”

Spoke to someone from WWE who told me that the promotion is deliberately moving away from the terminology of Sports Entertainment.

Sapp finished his report by stating that the production team has also received high marks backstage, and rightfully so. The changes, including the lack of camera cuts and the same other tropes that had become stale and outdated, are long overdue and have instantly improved the quality of WWE television.

It is not particularly surprising by any means that WWE and Levesque would want to incorporate new elements to the product and do away with the more antiquated or in effected elements that were put in place by the previous regime.

WrestleMania represented the beginning of a new era and as the company advances further into it, expect to see, hear, and experience fresh and new.

Considering how stuck in their ways the old regime was, it is certainly welcome.
